
UNP Lecturers Specializing in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation Participate in the Advance Clinical Gait Course in Malaysia
Two lecturers from Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), Faculty of Sports Science, Department of Health and Recreation Dr. Ilham, S.Si., M.Or. and Dr. Liza, S.Si., M.Pd. who specialize in sports therapy and rehabilitation, participated in the Advance Clinical Gait Course, Series 1, held at the PERKESO Rehabilitation Centre, Melaka, Malaysia, from 22 to 23 July 2025.
This advanced clinical course successfully brought together participants from across Malaysia and Indonesia, including orthopaedic surgeons, paediatric orthopaedists, sports scientists, biomechanists, physiotherapists, and clinical practitioners from renowned hospitals and academic institutions.
The program was organized through the support of:
- ESMAC – European Society for Movement Analysis in Adults and Children
- PERKESO Rehabilitation Centre, Malaysia
- Summit Features Sdn Bhd
Led by internationally recognized experts in clinical gait analysis:
- Dr. Tamaya Van Criekinge (Maastricht University), ESMAC Instructor
- Dr. Patricia Van de Walle (University of Antwerp), ESMAC Instructor
The training featured cutting-edge gait analysis technologies, including:
- Vicon Motion Capture System
- AMTI Force Platforms (Advanced Mechanical Technology, Inc.)
- Cometa srl Wireless EMG System
These systems are installed at PERKESO by Summit Features Sdn Bhd.
The participation of Dr. Ilham and Dr. Liza underscores UNP's dedication to strengthening academic and clinical expertise in movement science, sports rehabilitation, and evidence-based therapeutic practice. Their involvement also reflects the university’s active role in fostering cross-border collaboration and contributing to the advancement of rehabilitation science in Southeast Asia.
