11 Candidates for UNP Rector Deliver Working Papers in Open Forum
Padang - The Academic Senate (SAU) of Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) held an Open Forum for the Presentation of Working Papers of Candidates for Rector of Universitas Negeri Padang for the 2024-2029 Period, Monday (22/4/2024) at the UNP Auditorium.
The event, which was also broadcast live through UNP's Official Youtube Account, UNP TV, was held to follow up on the UNP Board of Trustees Regulation Number 1 of 2023 concerning Procedures for the Election of Appointment, Inauguration and Dismissal of Rectors of Padang State University and the Decree of the Board of Trustees regarding the Determination of Candidates for Rector of UNP 2024-2029 and the Decree of the Board of Trustees (MWA) of UNP Number 064/UN35.MWA/HK/2024 concerning the Determination of Candidates for Rector of UNP for the 2024-2029 Period.
The eleven names of the Rector Candidates who presented their papers were Prof. Aldri Frinaldi, S.H., M.Hum., Ph.D, Prof. Dr. Ardipal, M.Pd, Dr. Hasrul, M.Si, Prof. Dr. Indang Dewata, M.Si, Dr. Ir. Krismadinata, S.T., M.T and Dr. Ir. Mulya Gusman, S.T., M.T in the first session. Then continued in the second session Dr. Refnaldi, S.Pd, M.Litt, Dr. Yaswinda, S.Pd., M.Pd, Prof. Yohandri, M.Si, Ph.D, Dr. Yulhendri, S.Pd, M.Si, Dr. Yulkifli, S.Pd, M.Si.
The Chairperson of the Open Forum, Prof. Dr. M. Zaim, M.Hum in his report revealed that this Open Forum is one of the series of processes for the election of the UNP Rector which has begun with the formation of the Rector Election Committee, the selection of Candidates for Rector and continued with today the initial stage of screening Candidates for Rector.
"The Rector Candidate is an applicant who has been netted based on the screening procedures. At the screening stage, 12 Rector Candidates have been netted, after going through verification of administrative requirements, 11 Rector Candidates are eligible," he explained.
"The open forum is a forum for submitting working papers by the Rector Candidates and questions and answers with the academic community, alumni and the community," he added.
Chairman of the UNP Academic Senate Prof. Dr. Lufri in his opening speech revealed that this activity is a form of cooperation of the authority given by MWA to SAU. "The Candidates will submit their working papers containing UNP Strategic proposals, Implementation of Strategy Plans and Achievement strategies that will be carried out by each Candidate for Rector," said the Professor of FMIPA.
"By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, the open forum for the presentation of working papers for candidates for UNP Rector for the 2024-2029 Period is opened," said Prof. Lufri when officially opening the forum.
At the event which began at 08.00 WIB, the moderator was Prof. Dr. Yasri, MS with panelists who will dissect the vision and mission of each Candidate for Rector is a Professor of Civil Engineering at Gajah Mada University and also a former Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Ministry of Research and Technology, Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC., Ph.D. Then the Rector of Universitas Negeri Padang Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D and the last is the former UNP Rector for the 2012-2016 period Prof. Dr. Phil. Yanuar Kiram, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Kadarsah Suryadi, DEA who is the former Rector of ITB for the 2015-2020 period.
A number of rules must be obeyed by each Rector Candidate, including presenting working papers for a maximum of 10 minutes. Rector Candidates are not allowed to attack each other or drop other Rector Candidates and each Rector Candidate must provide answers and responses to every question from panelists and Open Forum participants addressed to him briefly, precisely, and concisely within a maximum period of 2 (two) minutes.
Also present at this event were the Chairperson and Members of MWA as much as, SAU, UNP Leaders and Work Unit Leaders, Leaders and Members of the Faculty Academic Senate, Lecturers, Education Personnel, student representatives, Alumni representatives and community representatives.
