UNP Launches 4,165 PLK and Teaching Assistant Students for July-December Semester 2024

Padang - Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) has launched 4165 Educational Field Practice (PLK) - Teaching Assistant (AM) Students for the July-December 2024 Semester on Monday (22/7/2024). This release ceremony was marked by the symbolic release and handover of UNP PLK Students to the Education Office of West Sumatra Province (West Sumatra), Padang City and the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) Regional Office (Kanwil) West Sumatra by UNP Rector Krismadinata, Ph.D. at the UNP Auditorium.

Rector Kris in his speech said that this educational field practice is not only a mandatory activity for educational students, but also a golden opportunity to learn directly in the field. 

“This is an opportunity to hone teaching skills, deepen understanding of the dynamics of education, and build character as a professional educator,” he explained. 

On that occasion, Krismadinata also provided motivation for the students about “Growth Mindset”, how to respond to all forms of changes that occur in the future with growing thoughts as well. 

Meanwhile, the Head of the Institute for Educational Development and Strategic Task Executors (LP3S) Prof. Dr. Jamaris, M.Pd hopes that this PLK activity is not only a means of learning for students but students can become agents of renewal given the current capabilities of students in the field of information technology so that they can help develop learning materials, learning media and learning videos.

“We ask the school to fully involve our students starting from lesson planning, making exam questions and even filling out report cards that they will not get in lectures. It can be utilized in the field of no teaching. Not only picket but also in terms of administration,” he explained.

Head of the Center for PLK Dr. Muhammad Adri, M.T in his report said that this PLK starts from July 22 to December 21, 2024 which is deployed to 450 partner schools. At the event, the students who will take part in PLK were also treated to material about the Management, Duties and Obligations of PLK Students-Teaching Assistance by Dr. Muhammad Adri, M.T.

Then the material about the Potential Development of Edu Tourism in the Mentawai Islands Regency and Preparing the Advanced Mentawai Generation through quality education by the West Sumatra Education Office, Head of the West Sumatra Region VIII Education Office Branch and the last material about the Role of Religious Education Institutions in building a Young Generation with character and noble character delivered by the Head of the West Sumatra Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion.
