
UNP Leaders Attend Joint Prayer to Commemorate 1 Year of Mount Marapi Eruption in Nagari Batu Palano Agam
Padang - The leadership of Padang State University (UNP) in this case represented by the Secretary of the University Dr. Erianjoni, S.Sos, M.Si attended the Joint Prayer Procession in commemoration of the 1st Year Commemoration of the Mount Marapi Eruption Friday / December 6, 2024 at the Batu Palano Grand Mosque, Sungai Puar District, Agam Regency. In the tragic event of the mountain eruption, 24 climbers became victims including 4 UNP students, Frengki Candra Kusuma (Out of School Education), Reyhani Zahra Fadli (Nursing), Liarni (Cosmetology and Beauty) and Siska Afrina (Out of School Education).
There was also a sowing of flowers at the location of the planned memorial. Filhan, a student at Politeknik Negeri Padang, who was also one of the victims of the tragi-comedy, also explained the plan.
Walinagari Batu Palano Darizal in his speech said “the families of the victims and donors together will build a memorial in a place that has been permitted by the West Sumatra Province Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA), and the building design has been prepared, there will be 24 headstones bearing the names of victims of the Marapi eruption and we the village government will support the construction”.
“We from UNP are present as a form of deep sorrow from the community, especially UNP, to pray with the families of the victims, besides that UNP Nature and Environment Lovers Students (MPLH UNP) also joined hundreds of mountain climbing communities, Mapala and the people of Nagari BatuPalano. From the PNP Padang, the Director of PNP Dr. SurfaYondri was present along with dozens of PNP students, said UNP Secretary Dr. Erianjoni, M.Si to UNP Public Relations (Er / UNP Public Relations).
