570 New Students of PPG Teacher Candidates Wave 2 Year 2024 UNP Postgraduate School Follow Orientation
Padang - A total of 570 new students of Teacher Professional Education (PPG) Teacher Candidates for Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) wave 2 in 2024 attended the Leadership Introduction Orientation for new PPG students on Thursday (5/9/2024) at the UNP Auditorium.
The UNP Rector, who in this case was represented by the Vice Rector (WR) I, Dr. Refnaldi, S.Pd, M.Litt, said that PPG is a mandatory program for those who want to become teachers. So that prospective teachers must know how to professionalize teachers in the 21st century.
“I am here on behalf of the Rector to apologize for not being able to be here with us. He also advised us to take this PPG activity seriously, so that we can really become professional teachers and he also hopes that all of you can graduate with good grades,” said Dr. Refnaldi when giving a speech.
Furthermore, he also said that teachers are professional positions which have been explained in Law (UU) Number 14 of 2005 and regulated in Ministerial Regulation Number 17 of 2007 concerning the qualifications of teacher competency standards. On that occasion, he also introduced UNP leadership elements who were present at the event.
PPG Coordinator, Dr. Andromeda. M.Si reported that the total number of new UNP PPG students for the July-December 2024 semester is 10,606 which consists of 10,036 PPG Specified Teachers (PPG In Position) students and 570 PPG Prospective Teacher students (PPG Pre-Service).
“Alhamdulillah, UNP was given the trust to organize Teacher Professional Education for both in-service and pre-service teachers. If the total number of UNP Postgraduate PPG students is currently 12,210 students, “he said when reading his report.
In this orientation activity, new PPG Teacher Candidate students were given a number of materials including material about the curriculum and the system and learning flow of Pre-Service PPG by Dr. Andromeda, M.Si, Dr. Fitri Arsih, M.Pd and Prof. Yerimadesi, M.Si. Furthermore, the material on Administrative Services and LMS Procedures by Iqbal Amru, S.E and Trihanto, S.Pd.
Then Lesson Study and Strengthening Professional Teacher Competencies by Dr. Nofrion, M.Pd. followed by Material for Implementing the Independent Curriculum and the last material on Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence.
Also present at the event were WR II, WR III, Director of Postgraduate Program, Deans in UNP, PPG Coordinator and Director and Head of Agency then other leaders in UNP. (Utr / UNP Public Relations)
