The Regent of Solok Regency, H. Gusmal, S.E., M.M. who is also alumni of UNP, on his speech, described about Solok District which was developing 4 pillars of development based on President Jokowidodo's “NAWACITA” in which the education be the first pillar of development.
"Children who do not wear a school uniforms and other attributes should not be expelled from school because education is highly upheld in the district that has 3 climates," Gusmal said. For the next five years, Gusmal requires for Solok residents to complete their school at least for the high school level.
In addition, Gusmal also told about how working in the field of education in the public eyes was often considered to never get a special attention or popularity where this case does not make the intention of the regent then down to fight for education in his area. He holds to the thought of Minangkabau culture and Islamic religion which reads that educated and knowledgeable people will be elevated by Allah SWT".
He admitted that Solok Regency was lacked of resources. Shifting values and the lack of religious understanding to young people are also the reasons for Solok Regency to continue to create conducive programs in order to realize the 4 pillars of Solok Regency development such as trying on making the Solok library as a National champion, creating boarding-based schools, holding morning’s prayer, and other programs.
