UNP Lecturers Follows EMI US Worskhop Embasyy-UI

Padang—Universitas Negeri Padang has already been sent three UNP delegates to attend the workshop of “English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI)”. The workshop as the program of the United States Embassy in Jakarta which collaborates with the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia from July, 7-14, 2019. The delegate lecturer of UNP, Dr. Nofrion explained that the Rector of UNP, Prof. Ganefri, assigned three lecturers to attend the EMI Workshop. Th three delegates from UNP are Dr. Nofrion, (Geography Education), Riki Mukhaiyar, Ph.D (Electrical Engineering Education) and Erni Masdupi, Ph.D. (Management).

Dr. Nofrion said before getting the certification of the workshop, all participants supposed to implement format micro teaching of teaching practice in English. The Workshop presented Dr. Heather Linville (English Language Specialist) from the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse who explained the implementation of English language learning and content learning. The lecturers and Teacher must be expert in Language and content learning.

“Since 2017, UNP has pioneered international class (bilingual classes) for 15 studies with accredited (A). From this program, UNP also realize that the vision of UNP as one of the world-class universities,” Said Rector of UNP through Dr. Nofrion. There are 50 lecturers attended the workshop consists of two groups, social humanities and science technology to apply the science and EMI Skills in every university and to develop the cooperation for all universities in Indonesia.

In Micro session teaching, the group of social humanities UNP incorporated of Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Podomoro, Sampoerna University, Universitas Negeri Sebelas Maret, Universitas Budi Mulia and UIN Yogyakarta (Public Relations of UNP and Dr. Nofrion)
