The Information Commission (KI) of West Sumatera handed over the award of Public Information Openness to a number of public institutions in West Sumatra, on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Bumi Minang Hotel. The Director General of Regional Development of the Ministry of PDT, the Deputy Chair of the Central Information Commission, the Governor of West Sumatra Province, a number of OPD's heads, the Rector of Educational Institutions (PTN and PTS) in West Sumatera, and the other invitations from other relevant stakeholders are attended this event.
Based on the Law No. 14 of 2008, every public institution has an obligation to provide information that easy to access by the public. According to Syamsu Rizal, the Chairman of West Sumatera KI, the public information openness has become a necessity in order to realize a clean, transparent, and accountable government, so that the public trust in the government will be increased.
The West Sumatera KI ranking has been held four times and for this year, there are 10 categories of assessment carried out, among of them are the categories of BUMN / BUMD, Regency / City Government, Regency / City of General Election Commissions, Village / Nagari, Regency / City of election supervisory institution, West Sumatra OPD, High School / West Sumatera Vocational Schools, Vertical Agencies, PTN / PTS in West Sumatera, and Political Parties.
Furthermore, Universitas Negeri Padang won the first place in Public Information Openness for the category of Educational Institutions (PTN / PTS) in West Sumatera, while the second place was gotten by the Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) of Padang Panjang, and the third place was gotten by Politeknik Negeri Padang. The award was handed directly by the Director General of the Ministry of Trade of PDT to the Rector of Universitas Negeri Padang, Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D. (Public Relations of UNP/Translated by: Shilva Lioni)
