The Rector of Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), Prof. Ganefri held a meeting with the leaders and academics of the Faculty of Sports Sciences (FIK) at Tuesday (January 8). The arrival of Prof. Ganefri was in order to socialize the achievements of UNP’s performance besides of strengthening the consolidation of leaders in FIK with the academic community.
Ganefri was accompanied by the Vices-Rector, several Heads of Bureau, and the Heads of the Institution.
Ganefri said that the higher education in Indonesia has now entered a new era, a competitive era full of challenges, changes and turbulence. Global universities are universities that are ready and success in competition in the international level. The universities have a vision that is not only related to teaching staff (lecturers), researchers, and students with global insight, but also related to the global institutions and partners.
"Efforts to succeed in utilizing local, national and international resources will provide opportunities to make universities in Indonesia to be world-class institutions," he said.
Furthermore, Ganefri said that FIK must have international standards in excellence. 'These excellences include excellence in research which is recognized by the international academic community through international publications; excellence in highly qualified and best teaching staff (professors) in their fields; excellence in academic freedom and intellectual enthusiasm; excellence on management and governance; excellence in adequate facilities for academic work, such as library, laboratories; and excellence in adequate funding to support the teaching and learning process along with the research.
"No less important, the excellence in international cooperation, both in academic programs, research, and etc also must be conducted. I am sure about FIK with lecturer resources," Ganefri hoped.
