Tentang UNP

Directorate General of Higher Education (Directorate of Higher Education) Ministry of National Education has recently released a list of 50 colleges that promise, or 50 Promising Indonesian Universities. From that list, there are 28 state universities (PTN) and 22 private universities (PTS). One of them is the University of Padang

Padang State University (UNP) is the result of the conversion of Padang Teachers' Training College into a university, which was originally named the College of Teacher Education (onset). Since its establishment on September 1, 1954, the UNP has undergone many changes. In the history of its development, changes in the changes that occur include not only the name and domicile, but also the status and development of educational programs, in accordance with the policies to meet the demands of the development of education in the country.

These changes can be classified into five periods, namely the period of onset Batusanggkar, FKIP period Andalas University in Batusanggkar Bukittinggi, FKIP period Andalas University in Padang, Jakarta Branch IKIP period Padang, Padang IKIP period and the period of the UNP.

After becoming a university, the UNP has seven faculties, namely the Faculty of Education (FIP), Faculty of Language and Art (FBS), the Faculty of Natural Sciences (Sciences), Faculty of Social Sciences (FIS), Faculty of Engineering (FT), Faculty of Sport Science ( FIK), Faculty of Economics (FE), and Graduate Program. At the end of 2014, the UNP was allowed to develop new faculties, namely the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality is the development of the Department of PKK FT UNP.

Then, beginning on February 17, 2015, the State University of Padang established by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia as the Government is implementing with the status of PK-BLU Public Service Board in full at the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. This decision by the Minister of Finance No. 335 / KMK.05 / 2015 dated February 17, 2015.
