Qualified competencies and productivity of lecturers and professors will determine the number of reputable international journal publications in a university in the future, therefore the Rector of Universitas Negeri Padang, Prof. Ganefri requires every lecturer to produce 1.0 (one) indexed scientific publication on each of year.
Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) held the first regular flag raising ceremony in 2019 at the field of rectorate building on Monday (January 7, 2019).
On this time, the ceremony was held in order to strengthen the solidity and the unity of the academic community of UNP starting from the staff of education, the security unit, till the leaders of faculties in the environment of UNP. Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi Thailand held the 7th International Symposium on Fusion of Science and Technologies from December 16 to 20, 2018 in Nonthaburi City.
The symposium is very important because it discusses the topic of the current issues on the development of technology, especially regarding the role of technology in science, including in the fields of agriculture, civil and architecture, and other various fields of science.

The 2018 Energy Saving Car Contest (KMHE) which took placed on November 27 was officially closed in the headline of the event "Night Closing of the UNP Green Breath of 2018 KMHE" on Saturday night (December 1, 2018) at the Auditorium of Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP). Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS) won the general champion after getting 3 podiums in 3 of the 8 categories which contested.
In addition to be host of the 2018 Energy-Saving Car Contest (KMHE) which has become an annual program of the Directorate General of Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) participated to the contest with 2 vehicles namely for the Prototyepe Diesel categories and Urban Gasoline categories.
The 2018 Energy Saving Car Contest (KMHE) officially opens on Wednesday (November 28). The opening of the event which took place at Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), West Sumatera Province, will be marked by the cutting of the ribbon by the Director of Student Affairs of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Dr. Didin Wahidin.
