MTQ Competition on University-level: Universitas Negeri Padang is ready to produce new Hafiz and Hafizah

After the opening ceremony of the Dies Natalies, Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) held the Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) Competition on university-level as the opening of the many activities that will be conducted on this week. The number of participants till now counted to 343 people which consisting of 74 from Faculty of Math and Sciences, , 48 from Faculty of Social Sciences, 45 from Faculty of Engineering, 38 from Faculty of Economics, 35 from Faculty of Education, 31 from Faculty of Languages and Arts, 26 from Faculty of Sport Sciences, and 26 from Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality.

Thirteen branches of the competition are ready to be followed by each delegate from the faculty, in example the Quran recitations, musabaqah, and MTQ of 20 juz. "UNP has reached the best grasp at this time where there are people who reach 20 juz today," Prof. Dr. Fuadi Anwar M.Ag. as the person in charge and the chief executive of the MTQ competition event said.

On this year, the implementation of MTQ competition was slightly different from the previous year. Fuadi Anwar said that it has been 16 times since the MTQ competition was held where the opening was held at the overhang before, but now has been taken to the Auditorium".

Furthermore, reflecting on the Syarif Hidayatullah IAIN which has Qur'an house that is always crowded with visitors, Fuadi said that the existence of the Qur'an House is currently needed. Fuadi hoped that in addition to the construction of buildings for lecture, UNP will also think about the development of the Qur'an House in order to forge students to study Al-Qur'an and gain better religious knowledge.

“The Qur'an must be a source of inspiration for academics to develop science and technology for the advancement of human life,” the Rector of UNP, Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D., when giving a speech at the Opening of the 16th Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) on University-level at the Auditorium of UNP on Monday (October, 15).

MTQ activities has their own pride for UNP, because currently in Sumatera only UNP that is holding a MTQ competition on University-level.
