The maximum competence of alumni of Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) in the field of teaching has caused creativity of them as educators received attention from the Ministry of Education and Culture cq the Director General of Teachers and Education Staff. Inevitably, Syafei, who taught at one of the schools in Manokwari, West Papua, received an appreciation to be a speaker on the Workshop at the commemoration day of World Teacher's Day in Jakarta some time ago.
On Friday (October 5), the outstanding teacher of SM3T (the Undergraduates Educating in the Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged Regions), Safei was seen in the lobby of the Rectorate Building of UNP, on Air Tawar Campus. He stopped at the Campus to meet with the former Dean of Faculty of Sport Sciences of UNP who is currently be the Vice-Rector IV of UNP, Prof. Syahrial Bakhtiar. He is also enthusiastically wanted to meet the Rector of UNP, Prof. Ganefri.
Safei who had the honour of being the speaker at the Unesco’s forum, on Tuesday (October 2) was received appreciation from the Rector of UNP, Prof. Ganefri in Jakarta.
"As the Rector, I am proud of Safei because maximizing his profession and ability as a teacher so that got the title of Outstanding High School Teacher and the honour of being the speaker on World Teacher's Day at the International forum of Unesco," Prof. Ganefri said.
The Rector of UNP, Ganefri said that this was the work of the SM3T teacher who is coming from Padang (Alumni of UNP) which also represented West Papua in various of teacher forums at the national level that should be appreciated. This must be exemplified by the others SM3T Teachers who are coming from UNP, because his work and reputation which is not only representing the school but also the province.
At the beginning of his work as an SM3T teacher in one of the schools in Manokwari, according to Safei, in addition to teaching, he is also actively managing self-help libraries. He even managed to raise donations to set up the reading huts. Not only that, Safei was also be one of the managers of Community Reading Parks (TBM) which was received an Award from the Ministry of Education and Culture for Creative-Recreation of TBM in 2018.
"I am also active in writing the books and being a speaker for anti-corruption training for students and teachers because ever been the West Papua delegation to receive anti-corruption training which was held on the Bali," Safei explained.
Safei, the Alumni of 2015 Faculty of Sport Sciences who came to the Air Tawar Campus of UNP which initially only to met the professor, Prof. Syahrial Bakhtiar unexpectedly also met the Rector of UNP when he was in the lobby of Rectorate Building. (Public Relations of UNP/Translated by Shilva Lioni)
