A total of 1500 students participated in the Educational Practice Program (PLK) of Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) which held on a full day at the Auditorium Building of UNP (Monday, January 7). The event which started from 2019 January to June was opened by the Rector of UNP, Prof. Ganefri. Through the debriefing, the students of UNP who will be prospective professional teachers in the future can get knowledge related to their duties and obligations in their respective agencies.
The training program was attended by all of students from Education Study Program who were also part of PKL in the next January to June semester.
On the event, the Rector of UNP said that as a teacher, the students must have teacher competency, namely a set of knowledge, skills, and behaviours especially in the process of carrying out their professional duties. Teacher must have the ability to organize and to manage education in the school environment.
"Professional teachers must be skilled in educating, teaching, guiding, directing, training, and evaluating students in the formal education, either on the level of basic education or secondary education," Ganefri said.
Previously, the Head of the Field Experience Center (PPL), Dr. Waskito reported that the debriefing of the PLK for the 2019 January to June period was in accordance with the agenda set for a full day school. The PLK presented the Chairperson of the LP3M of UNP, Dr. Edwin Musdi who talked about General Orientation Program for the PPL Program, the Head of the West Sumatra Provincial Education Office, Dr. Burhasman Boes who talked about School System, the Head of the Field Experience Center (PPL), Dr. Waskito who talked about the material for the Implementation System of PLK, and Bayu Ramadhan Fajri who on this case talked about Animation Learning Media which can use to attract students' attention and to convey a message more easily.
"With the material presented, it will be beneficial for the development of attitudes, knowledge, skills and expertise of students and the prospective teachers who participated on this activity,” Waskito said in front of 1,552 students of UNP.
On this activity, the Vice-Rector I, Prof. Yunia Wardi, the Vice-Rector II, Syahril Ph.D., the Vice-Rector III, Prof. Ardipal, the Vice-Rector IV, Prof. Syahrial Bakhtiar, the Deans, and the Chairmen of the institution within UNP also attended. (Public Relations of UNP/Translated by: Shilva Lioni)
